I often defend the position that there is no work life balance. Just one life. The choices we make determine a variety of outcomes- some in our control and some not. If we make those choices with the best education and intention, then in some ways the result is irrelevant. Its like saying to your son/daughter/mentee/apprentice- if you make 100% effort then I don’t care what the result is.
How different situations conclude as a result of our choices should continually educate us. As well as trying to be more self-aware or see things from a different perspective.
The only real way of doing this is having some one that you respect call you on your shit. We all have shit by the way. We are human. Amazing to think we still do things or think a certain way because someone told you something once, who was younger than you are now. What’s even more amazing is its possible you’ve never thought of it like that before or challenged it and therefore challenged yourself.
Don’t get a friend or family member to fill this position in your life. They have a subconscious habit of bending the truth to suit your reality. Which ultimately means you won’t progress in your thinking or awareness and therefore as a business owner.
Change is messy, its hard and your initial reaction will always be to do what you’ve always done. But you already know what results this will always get you.
Choose a mentor or coach or accountability partner to work across all elements of your life. That can be brutally truthful but use it in a beautifully motivational way.
